Our Projects
Cradle Ark - Self Feeding Initiative (established 2010)
In 2007, THE CRADLE OF HOPE purchased an 18Ha plot of land in Vlakplaats, Tarlton. This plot was previously owned by Senator Johannes Willem (Jan) de Klerk, the father of former president F.W. De Klerk, winner of the Nobel Prize in 1993. We believe there is a strong prophetic calling on this piece of land. We have enabled many Entrepreneurs to commence their own individual vegetable gardens, chicken coops, and also a solar-powered hair salon. Additionally, a small dam was constructed, and a drip irrigation system was established. As a result, several cultivations are now underway, and our vision of THE CRADLE ARK community achieving self-sufficiency has been implemented. We are looking forward to see how this piece of land will be fulfilling it’s calling. God is good!

Currently +- 160 adults & children live at THE CRADLE ARK. The families are living in the structures on the plot. The local municipality has assisted in installing portable toilets, and also provide fresh water once a week.
Our hope is to assist the residents of the CRADLE ARK to become fully self-sustained; small food gardens are maintained and a full crop of corn was planted a couple of months ago. We assist the residents with food, clothing and other necessary items. The caretaker at the CRADLE ARK, Jeanette Fikile Xhama, had also in 2018 taken the initiative to start a Pre-School, Encedweni Educare, which provides the smaller children from the CRADLE ARK with early stage education and nutritious meals daily.
Each child receives a Christmas gift during December, containing a new school bag, stationery, new clothing & shoes.
